Sales policy.
Summer Sage Ranch Purchase Agreement
Conditions of Sale
Adult Goats:
Mature adults that are made available can be held with a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of 50% of the animal’s total purchase price. Deposits can be transferred to another animal, but all monies paid on cancelled orders are not refunded. Deposits are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. NO GOATS WILL BE RESERVED OR CONSIDERED “PENDING SALE” WITHOUT A DEPOSIT IN HAND. Adult goats can be held at the farm for up to 2 weeks while the purchaser arranges pick up or transport. After that, there will be a $5 per day, per goat boarding fee for the third week, and a $10 per day, per goat boarding fee for the fourth week. If the goat has not been picked up within 4 weeks (28 days) from the date of sale, unless mutually agreed upon in writing for them to stay longer, the sale will be considered forfeited by the purchaser, and any money paid non-refundable. The goat will either be retained in the Summer Sage Ranch herd, or offered to another buyer.
Kids:
**WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO RETAIN ANY KID FROM ANY BREEDING, AND TO MODIFY BREEDING PLANS AND PRICING AT ANY TIME.**
If you’re interested in kids from a particular breeding, please contact us via Facebook, email (summersageranch@gmail.com), or our website chat box. Please be sure to include at least two reliable forms of contact (email, phone number, social media account, etc.).
We have a free (no deposit required) waiting list for unborn kids; however, there is no guarantee on being offered a kid. Names of interested parties are NOT carried over on the list from one year to the next. There is no revolving list; as the buyer, you will need to reach out each year for pairings you’re interested in. Putting your name on the list is not a commitment from you to purchase. Preference is given to repeat customers that have been easy to work with.
If a kid is being offered for sale to you, the buyer, you will be contacted and have 24 hours to respond with your decision. If you decide to purchase the kid, you will need to place a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of 50% of the animal’s total purchase price to reserve. Deposits can be transferred to another animal if the buyer happens to change their mind, but all monies paid on cancelled orders are not refunded. No buckling reservations will be taken on first fresheners; after they kid and udders are evaluated, buck kids may be offered. Pet quality wethers/unregistered bucklings may come available, they are priced at $100. If you decide to purchase one, you will need to place a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $50 to reserve. Deposits are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. NO GOATS WILL BE HELD WITHOUT A DEPOSIT IN HAND.
🔸All kids are disbudded unless otherwise specified. Scurs are possible, and we do not offer any guarantees that our goats will not have them, though we try our best to avoid that.
1. If you want a horned kid, then it must be paid for in-full, in advance, since there is a limited demand for horned kids.
🔸Our buck kids sold as wethers are sold without papers, but are intact (unless arrangements have been made for the buyer to have them castrated sooner, at their cost) since delayed castration is beneficial to the buckling's health.
🔸We will not sell one goat (adult or baby) by itself unless there is already at least one goat at the new home.
🔸Kids are sold with registration papers or applications from ADGA, unless otherwise specified.
🔸If the kid(s) are being dam raised, we wean around 10-12 weeks of age. We do not guarantee temperament. Dam raised kids may be wild or skittish.
1. 2-Week Rule: Kids must be picked up within 2 weeks of weaning. After that, there will be a $5 per day, per kid boarding fee for the third week, and a $10 per day, per kid boarding fee for the fourth week. If the kid has not been picked up within 4 weeks (28 days) from the date of weaning, unless mutually agreed upon in writing for them to stay longer, the sale will be considered forfeited by the buyer, and any money paid non-refundable. The kid will either be retained in the Summer Sage Ranch herd, or offered to another buyer.
🔸Reserved bottle babies can be picked up prior to (but not later than) 4 weeks of age, depending on the purchaser’s experience raising bottle kids.
1. The only guarantee given for kids being sold on bottles is that they are accustomed to taking a bottle.
2. When kids are sold while still on a bottle, the buyer understands that ALL responsibilities of properly caring for their newly acquired kid(s) falls on them. If something happens to the kid(s) in the buyer’s care (or in a transporter's care), Summer Sage Ranch and/or it's proprietors will not be held responsible in any way.
3. When reserving an older bottle kid that has not been weaned, the 2-Week Rule (see bullet point above) applies: Kids must be picked up within 2 weeks of date of sale. After that, there will be a $5 per day, per kid boarding fee for the third week, and a $10 per day, per kid boarding fee for the fourth week. If the kid has not been picked up within 4 weeks (28 days) from the date of sale, unless mutually agreed upon in writing for them to stay longer, the sale will be considered forfeited by the purchaser, and any money paid non-refundable. The kid will either be retained in the Summer Sage Ranch herd, or offered to another buyer.
🔸All registered kids will be tattooed prior to leaving the farm.
All Goats:
We will not sell one goat by itself unless there is already at least one goat at the new home. Summer Sage Ranch reserves the right to retain any goat, at any time, while still on our property and in our care.
Health: We guarantee that our goats are healthy and free from disqualifying faults when we sell them, and at time of pick-up, transport or shipping. We do not guarantee the health of any goats once they leave our farm and are outside of our control. Should the animal die or become gravely injured while on our premises and in our care, we will gladly transfer your deposit to another animal, or apply your deposit to a farm credit to be used on future animals. Stress is quite common in both kids and adults of all ages when moved from one place to another. Illness, disease, and in rare cases death can occur if the animal is not properly handled or treated. We will not be responsible for stress/illness/sickness/lameness of any kind after the animal leaves our farm. For that reason, all sales are final once the animal leaves our farm.
Pedigree: Our goats are registered with ADGA unless otherwise specified. If we bred the animal, we guarantee the sire and dam are correct. We DO NOT guarantee the validity of the rest of the pedigree, or pedigree of animals we did not breed, as it is simply out of our ability to know/verify goat lineage from other herds is 100% accurate.
Genetics/Defects: We DO NOT guarantee height. We cannot guarantee what ANY of our sold goats may produce in their offspring. This would include goats that may pass defects like extra or spur teats, undescended testis, being overheight, and/or other conditions. There are too many variables at play in regard to passing potential genetic defects, and therefore we do not make any guarantees regarding future offspring of sold goats.
You have the right to inspect/have the goat inspected prior to leaving our property. Once the goat is transported off our property, whether you elected to have the goat checked or not, you are accepting it AS IS. The only exceptions would be a teat defect on a kid that we miss/develops at a later time, or the development of carpal hyperextension. With proof of the defect in the purchased goat, we will offer a replacement of equal value to the buyer. The replacement can be a kid of either sex that is not retained, or can be an adult animal of either sex that may come available from time to time. No monies will be refunded. If the offered replacement is valued higher than the animal being replaced, the buyer is responsible for any overages to complete the balance.
Point of Sale: When multiple inquiries are made about the same goat, that goat is not considered “sold” until a deposit is in hand. If you (interested party) inquire about a goat for sale by asking for more pictures or information than what is already provided, this does not constitute a binding commitment on our part to hold that goat for you. If someone else inquires and sends a deposit based on the information available, they will be the one that buys the goat. If you want to buy the goat, please say so and we will go forward with the deposit process. Until a deposit is received, any goat listed for sale is for sale.
Payment: We accept PayPal, CashApp, or cash. If you wish to pay via PayPal, you will be responsible for any transaction fees associated with that form of payment, or payments should be made using “friends and family.” Balance of payment on your goat, or goats, will be due upon notification that they are ready to leave for their new home and must be paid in full prior to their leaving the farm. Should the buyer require a third-party transportation service, all shipping costs (transportation, heath certificates, testing, crates etc.) are the buyer’s responsibility. We have the right to refuse any transportation that appears unsafe or is in dangerous conditions for the goat(s).
ALL FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
All sales are final. If for any reason a sale is canceled, NO monies will be refunded.
Because we consider biosecurity to be of the utmost importance we may not choose to have goats re-enter our herd after leaving, but we do expect and require (considering it a common courtesy and obligation) the purchaser to always give us right of refusal on any animal they have purchased from us in the past and find they need to re-home.
We want you to be pleased with your purchase, which of course will ensure that the goats live a happy and healthy life. Thank you for considering Summer Sage Ranch.
This document is to be considered as an explanation of terms of sale and a sales contract. By purchasing a goat from us, you agree that you have read, understand, and will adhere to the conditions set forth in this purchase agreement.
